Abstract
IgA nephropathy is characterized by mesangial deposits of IgA on direct immunofluorescence of renal biopsy specimen. Recently, the cases associated with alcoholic liver cirrhosis, connective tissue disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal
disease,
dermatologic disease, hematologic disease and malignancy were reported. The association of malignant tumors with 2 various glomerulonephrits is well known. The histopathologic finding has mostly been membranous glomerulonephritis in carcinoma,
and
minimal change glomerulopathy in lymphoma. Other glomerular alterations have been found less often. Usually, the clinical manifestation of paranedoplastic glomerulonephritis has been the nephrotic syndrome. The literature includes some reports in
which
IgA nephropathy has been described in patients with neoplastic disease such as bronchial squamous cell carcinoma, laryngeal carcinoma, mycosis fungoides and mucin secreting adenocarcinoma of lung, stomach, large intestine and pancreas. The
relationship
between neoplastic disease and IgA nephropathy remains unresolved at present. The importance of searching malignancy in old age should be considered not only in patients with nephrotic syndrome but also hematuria should noted in this respect.
Authors report two cases of IgA nephropathy associated malignancy, bereast carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma, with a review of literatures.
